<p>How to cook easy peel steamed hard boiled eggs is a simple recipe to get perfectly hard boiled eggs that peel easily, even with farm&nbsp;fresh eggs. Within minutes you can have nicely cooked eggs, perfect for your salad topping or an egg salad sandwich.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Forget bringing a full pot of water to a boil then having to submerge the eggs into the boiling water, then removing the eggs from the boiling water. Steaming is a much faster and easier way to get hard boil eggs that are easily peeled, for fresh or older eggs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hard boiled eggs are a great addition to so many meals. With having over 30 chickens in my backyard flock, I have been getting dozens of eggs weekly with the coming of Spring. I&#8217;m constantly making recipes that call for a lot of eggs, like Frittatas and Dutch Baby Pancakes. This calls for doubling the recipes to use up even more eggs if I can&#8217;t sell or give them away fast enough.&nbsp;</p>

<p>One thing that is always easy to fall back on is to hard-boil eggs or even soft-boiled eggs. They are great to take as a snack on the road or at work or make into a salad. So many possibilities.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What you need to steam hard boil eggs</h2>

<ul>
<li>Eggs&nbsp;</li>

<li>Large saucepan with a lid</li>

<li><a href="https://amzn.to/48Zcr5y" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Steamer Insert</a> &#8211; I use the trivet from my Instant Pot</li>

<li>Cold Water</li>

<li>Large bowl to cool eggs</li>

<li><a href="https://amzn.to/4cukevo" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Slotted Spoon</a></li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Cook Easy Peel Steamed Hard Boiled Eggs</h2>

<p>To your large sauce pan add your steamer insert and add about an inch of water. You want there to be enough water to come just below the steamer insert.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large pinit"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="773" src="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-trivet-in-pot-1024x773.jpg" alt="pot with trivet for steaming eggs" class="wp-image-1780" srcset="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-trivet-in-pot-1024x773.jpg 1024w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-trivet-in-pot-300x227.jpg 300w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-trivet-in-pot-768x580.jpg 768w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-trivet-in-pot-150x113.jpg 150w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-trivet-in-pot.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Put the lid on the pan and put it over medium-high heat.</p>

<p>Once the water comes to a boil, carefully remove the lid and gently&nbsp;place eggs in the pan.</p>

<p>Put them in a single layer on the steamer rack.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large pinit"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="806" src="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steam-hard-boiled-eggs-eggs-in-pot-on-trivet-1024x806.jpg" alt="steamed hard boiled eggs pot of eggs steaming" class="wp-image-1774" srcset="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steam-hard-boiled-eggs-eggs-in-pot-on-trivet-1024x806.jpg 1024w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steam-hard-boiled-eggs-eggs-in-pot-on-trivet-300x236.jpg 300w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steam-hard-boiled-eggs-eggs-in-pot-on-trivet-768x604.jpg 768w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steam-hard-boiled-eggs-eggs-in-pot-on-trivet-150x118.jpg 150w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steam-hard-boiled-eggs-eggs-in-pot-on-trivet.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Cover pan and set your timer for the correct cooking time. 12 minutes for hard boiled or 6 minutes for soft boiled.</p>

<p>Just before your timer goes off, make your ice water bath for the eggs in a large bowl.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large pinit"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="878" src="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-cooked-in-pot-1024x878.jpg" alt="steamed hard boiled eggs pot of steamed eggs" class="wp-image-1775" srcset="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-cooked-in-pot-1024x878.jpg 1024w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-cooked-in-pot-300x257.jpg 300w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-cooked-in-pot-768x659.jpg 768w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-cooked-in-pot-150x129.jpg 150w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-cooked-in-pot.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Once the timer is done, carefully remove the eggs with your slotted spoon and add them to the ice bath.</p>

<p>Once your eggs are completely cooled now is when you can peel them if you want to use them right away.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large pinit"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="723" src="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-in-bowl-of-cold-water-rotated-e1710643700168-1024x723.jpg" alt="steamed hard boiled eggs bowl of hard boiled eggs cooling" class="wp-image-1776" srcset="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-in-bowl-of-cold-water-rotated-e1710643700168-1024x723.jpg 1024w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-in-bowl-of-cold-water-rotated-e1710643700168-300x212.jpg 300w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-in-bowl-of-cold-water-rotated-e1710643700168-768x542.jpg 768w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-in-bowl-of-cold-water-rotated-e1710643700168-150x106.jpg 150w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-in-bowl-of-cold-water-rotated-e1710643700168-735x519.jpg 735w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-in-bowl-of-cold-water-rotated-e1710643700168.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Gently tap the egg shell on a hard surface to crack the shell all over the egg.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large pinit"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeling-the-egg-1024x683.jpg" alt="hard boiled eggs peeling" class="wp-image-1778" srcset="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeling-the-egg-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeling-the-egg-300x200.jpg 300w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeling-the-egg-768x512.jpg 768w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeling-the-egg-150x100.jpg 150w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeling-the-egg.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>With cold running water, gently peel back the egg shell under the running water.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large pinit"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-sliced-in-half-1024x683.jpg" alt="sliced hard boiled eggs" class="wp-image-1779" srcset="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-sliced-in-half-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-sliced-in-half-300x200.jpg 300w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-sliced-in-half-768x512.jpg 768w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-sliced-in-half-150x100.jpg 150w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-sliced-in-half.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="isPasted">Notes:&nbsp;</h2>

<ul>
<li>Make sure you cover your pan before and during the cooking time to trap the hot steam in the pan so it can properly cook the eggs and have enough water for the whole cooking time.&nbsp;</li>

<li>An ice bath is not completely necessary. If you do not have ice on hand, just use the coldest water you have. You may need to drain and refill the bowl a couple times until the eggs are completely cooled, depending on how many eggs you cooked.</li>

<li>Peeling the eggs under the cold running water allows for more water to get between the egg and the shell. This makes for easier peeling without removing the egg white. &nbsp;</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Storage</h2>

<p>Hard boiled eggs are good for 7 days in the fridge. Either peeled or with the shell on. Keep peeled eggs in an airtight container.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ways to use steamed hard boiled eggs</h2>

<p>Egg salad sandwiches as well as chopping them up and adding to chicken salad for a sandwich. <a href="https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/bacon-n-egg-sandwiches/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bacon and Egg Sandwich</a> is a great choice for a bacon lover. </p>

<p>Potato salad is also a great recipe that I love to make.</p>

<p>Deviled eggs are a great appetizer and great for taking on picnics or to social gatherings at the holidays.</p>

<p>Adding as a topping for your green salad mix like <a href="https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/ham-and-swiss-salad-in-a-jar/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Salad in a Jar</a>. </p>

<p>Make a <a href="https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/cobb-salad-sub/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cobb Salad Sandwich</a> </p>

<p><a href="https://theelliotthomestead.com/2020/10/easy-baked-scotch-eggs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Scotch Eggs</a></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large pinit"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="805" src="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeled-and-sliced-1024x805.jpg" alt="steamed hard boiled eggs sliced" class="wp-image-1777" srcset="https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeled-and-sliced-1024x805.jpg 1024w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeled-and-sliced-300x236.jpg 300w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeled-and-sliced-768x604.jpg 768w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeled-and-sliced-150x118.jpg 150w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeled-and-sliced-735x578.jpg 735w, https://naturallivinghomestead.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/steamed-hard-boiled-eggs-peeled-and-sliced.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other ways to steam hard boiled eggs</h2>

<p>The Instant Pot or other pressure cooker is another great way to cook hard boiled eggs. The cook time for using a pressure cooker will be different then steaming. Because of the machine coming to pressure it starts to cook the eggs inside. So the set time for cooking the eggs will be about half the time or less than steaming. About 5 minutes to come to pressure and then about a 3-5 minute cook time with a quick release of the pressure valve and straight into a ice bath to stop the cooking process. I find this method also makes for great&nbsp;easy peel eggs.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Steamed Hard-boil eggs FAQ</h2>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do I have to do an ice water bath?</h2>

<p>While a bowl of ice water may be best to ensure you have enough cold water to completely cool the eggs, I don&#8217;t find it to be completely necessary. If you don&#8217;t have any ice cubes on hand just keeping a bowl of water to cool your steamed eggs is sufficient. You may need to change out the water for more cold water if it is no longer cold but I find that&#8217;s easy enough to do.</p>

<p>Chilling the eggs immediately after steaming them will also help to make them nicely shaped with out an indent from the air pocket on the fat end of the egg.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why are there green rings around my egg yolks of hard boiled eggs?</h2>

<p>This usually means that the eggs have been overcooked. They were left in the pot of steaming water for too long. The green ring is caused by sulfur and iron in the egg and then reacting on the surface of the egg yolk.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Should I use cold or room temperature eggs when steaming?</h2>

<p>I use my eggs cold, right out of the fridge.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Are undercooked hard boiled eggs safe to eat?</h2>

<p>It is typicially advised not to eat egg yolk or egg whites that are not completely cooked due to the chance of salmonella bacteria.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is it safe to eat overcooked hard boiled eggs?</h2>

<p>Over boiled eggs are not bad for you. It is actually safer to eat overcooked eggs than undercooked eggs.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can I make easy peel steamed eggs with fresh eggs?</h2>

<p>Yes you can. I have used my fresh chicken eggs with great success and peeling is perfect not removing any egg white. You can use older eggs&nbsp;just be sure they are not past their expiration date.</p>

<p>2-Ingredient Animal Based pancakes are a simple and easy recipe for breakfast that you can make if your on an animal based diet. These are dairy free, so if you have dairy sensitivities, these are for you. They are quick to mix up with simple ingredients with many different variations/add ins sure to please anyone.</p>

<p>These are definatly not a replacement for your traditional pancake that use some kind of flour. They are a healthy recipe when you are limited on what you can eat on a carnivore/animal based diet. I know after eating only meat and then finally getting to add fruit back into your diet, these are a great high protein meal to have. To be able to add a different texture to your already limited diet, this is a delicious and easy two-ingredient recipe to have.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To describe what these taste like would be similar to the middle of a piece of French Toast. These are much lighter pancakes then other pancake recipes and yes they do taste like bananas, but if you like bananas these are a delicious treat. You may think these would just turn out to be like a scrambled egg but the banana gives it more consistency and some sweetness. Make them even better with a little bit of honey or maple syrup on top. If your keeping the sweet content low, you can slather it with some pasture raised butter. Yum!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other variations for 2-ingredient Animal Based Pancakes</h2>

<p>There are other recipes like keto cream cheese pancakes that call for eggs and cream cheese or cottage cheese. I&#8217;m makes delicious pancakes. You could sub out the banana for 1/4 cup of cream cheese or cottage cheese.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Add ins for 2-ingredient Animal Based banana egg pancakes</h2>

<p>If your not very restrictive on this diet or maybe you want a good beginner food for your toddler. These pancakes are great for them when they are starting out on solid food. Here are some add ins that you or your toddler may like.</p>

<ul>
<li>1 tbsp Honey or Maple Syrup</li>

<li>1 tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)</li>

<li>1/8 teaspoon of baking powder for a fluffier pancake</li>

<li>1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract</li>

<li>A pinch of salt</li>

<li>Top them with some fresh fruit</li>

<li>Mash up some fruit and mix it in the mixture a little bit for different flavors.</li>

<li>Add a small amount of peanut butter.</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Notes on how to make 2-ingredient banana pancakes</h2>

<ul>
<li>I like to mix the banana and eggs in a blender to make sure it is well blended and smooth. I prefer the smooth texture of the pancake rather then lumpy from the bananas and it mixes the egg white in well.</li>

<li>If you don&#8217;t have a blender or want less dishes, mash one banana in a shallow bowl and then mix in the eggs</li>

<li>Make small pancakes that are 3-4 inches around. Make them too big and they may not flip well and fall apart.</li>

<li>Before you flip, allow the top to set. This will help keep the pancakes from falling apart when you flip them.</li>

<li>Take a small peek at the underside of the pancake before you flip &#8211; you want them to be a nice golden brown color.</li>

<li>If you are unable to use butter, use a healthy fat alternative, like coconut oil or lard.</li>

<li>Don&#8217;t use a spatula that is too thick. You&#8217;ll find that a nice thin stainless steel spatula will work the best, especially on a cast iron pan. I&#8217;m not a fan of using plastic spatulas on a cast iron pan as I&#8217;ve had them start to melt on the pan as I&#8217;m flipping the food. No, thank you.</li>

<li>I like using cast iron pans for the best non-stick pan. Food just doesn&#8217;t stick with these unlike other pans. Then other &#8220;non-stick pans&#8221; are coated with Teflon and I don&#8217;t want to get that in my food then my families or my body.&nbsp;</li>

<li>If you make a double batch of this recipe or you want to get them cooked faster, I like to use more then once cast iron skillet to get the job done sooner.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Storage</h2>

<p>I like to make extra to keep in the fridge for a quick snack for my toddler or quickly add it to the toaster oven to warm it up real quick for part of their breakfast.</p>

<p>These will last in the fridge for up to a week. You could also store them in the freezer for 3-6 months. This is a great option if you have a bunch of bananas that need to get used up and you don&#8217;t want to just have a whole banana sitting in a bag in the freezer. This turns it into a quick snack or meal.</p>

<p>If you choose to freeze them for longer storage, here&#8217;s what I recommend:&nbsp;</p>

<ul>
<li>Put some parchment paper on a cookie sheet and put the pancakes on, being carful not to overlap the pancakes.</li>

<li>Put the cookie sheet in your freezer until they are frozen, a couple hours should be plenty of time.</li>

<li>Once the pancakes are frozen, gently peel them off of the parchment paper and add them to a freezer bag.</li>
</ul>
